Edge Effects

"Rexburg Sunset" 10/17/2010 7:25pm Rexburg ID. f-stop: 5.0 shutter: 1/100 sec. Canon EOS DIGITAL REBEL XTi. This was a fun image to take as well as edit. The sunset was SO gorgeous when I was walking to take my portraits for the last assignment, so I had to take some shots! I adjusted the levels and saturation before starting the edge effect. This was the brushed on effect, used from tutorial 10 in the book. It's fun to play around with. I'm sure if I would have played around even some more I would have ended with a better image. But it was fun to experiment :)
"Rust" 9/29/1010 2:15 pm. Bannock Ghost Town. f-stop:3.5 shutter:1/4 sec. Canon PowerShot A71 IS. Before adding the edge effect, I blended two images together. I added a rust texture shot to the wheel image to give it that old antique look. Then I used the sprayed edge effect from tutorial 9. This is also a very fun effect to add interest to images. Learning how to apply all these different effects has been so fun. I can't wait to try them on more images!
"Fall Colors" 9/29/2010 3:05 pm. Bannock Ghost Town. f-stop: 3.2 shutter:1/501 sec. Canon PowerShot A71 IS. I adjusted levels and saturation. This was the double fade border effect, tutorial 12 in the book. This is a really fun effect! I was so excited to learn how to do it, because I've been wanting to add this type of effect to some of my other pictures, and now I know how! It's not even that hard, and in the process of learning it, I learned a lot about how Photoshop works.
I added this one just for fun. I LOVE this picture of Megan, and decided to experiment with the edge effects. I love the painted look on pictures. It's so fun and adds so much character :)

  1. I love your edge affect on the picture of Megan, I like how you emphasize the pink scarf with the border. I also like the black and white. Nice job, the edge (paint look) effect turned out great.
